So, I found myself needing a hotel in Futian, Shenzhen. Not for anything super exciting, just had to be in that part of the city for a few days. You know how it is, sometimes you just gotta find a place to crash that’s convenient.
I’d heard people talk about Shenzhen. Some say Luohu is where you’re supposed to stay if you’re a tourist. Apparently, that’s where most of the hotels are packed in. But I wasn’t really in tourist mode. Futian was where I needed to be, plain and simple. So, Futian it was.
Fired up my phone, started the usual search. Typed in “Futian hotel.” And bam, a million listings. It always feels like that, doesn’t it? So many choices, you start to wonder if they’re all just the same place with different names. I scrolled and scrolled. Looked at some pictures. Read a few of those reviews, which you can never really trust, can you?
My checklist wasn’t very long, to be honest. I just needed a few basic things:
- A bed that wasn’t going to break my back.
- A shower that worked, preferably with hot water.
- Wi-Fi. Definitely needed Wi-Fi.
- And, you know, relatively clean. I’m not asking for a palace.
After a while, they all started to blur together. Eventually, I just picked one. It looked… fine. The price was okay. Clicked the button, got the confirmation. That part was easy enough, I guess. At least the booking part is usually straightforward these days.
Getting there was the next step. Shenzhen’s a big place, lots of hustle and bustle. Found the hotel eventually. Walked into the lobby. It was a lobby. Looked like a hundred other hotel lobbies I’ve seen. The person at the front desk was busy on their computer. Waited my turn, handed over my ID, got the key card. Standard procedure. No fuss, no warm welcome, just business.
Went up to the room. Opened the door. It was a room, alright. Bed, desk, TV nobody ever watches, little bathroom. The window faced another tall building. Classic city view, you know? Couldn’t complain too much. It was what I paid for. The Wi-Fi password was one of those super long, complicated ones. Took me a couple of tries to get it right. But it worked, so that was good.
Spent a few days there. Slept in the bed. Used the shower. Did my work on the Wi-Fi. The walls were a bit thin, could hear people in the hallway sometimes. But that’s pretty normal for these kinds of places, I reckon. Didn’t use any of the hotel’s other facilities, if they even had any. I was mostly out or just in the room.
Futian itself is… well, it’s Futian. Lots of shiny skyscrapers, big shopping malls, people rushing around. It feels very modern, very business-like. Not really my kind of place to hang out for fun, but it was where I needed to be. Everything is very new, very developed.
So, that was my stay at a hotel in Futian. It did the job. It was a place to sleep and shower. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Just a hotel. Would I stay there again? Maybe, if I had to be in Futian for the same reasons. It’s not like it left a huge impression, good or bad. It just was. Another trip, another hotel room. That’s just how it goes sometimes.
